Elite Ranch Dogs is a new collaboration from Robin Brown of Broken Circle Stockdogs partnering with trainer Belinda Head.
We take a modern approach to raising and training the Elite Ranch Dog.
We offer just four exceptional dogs each year. We provide fully trained stockdogs and loyal companions who are ready to join the payroll on day one. The perfect fit on the ranch, vineyard, or as part of your family. We achieve success by carefully selecting from each Broken Circle litter, assessing the pups for structure and bravery. The very best go through our intensive puppy development program with Belinda in Sonoma, California then return for their stock dog training with Robin at the Broken Circle ranch in Indian Valley, Idaho.

A rancher at heart, Robin was raised on a 3rd generation cattle ranch in Idaho.
Taking to dog training early she established herself as a force in the stockdog world, as a breeder, trainer, and fierce competitor.
She is a multi-time national title winner in several venues and most recently 2024 Reserve World Champion at the Calgary Stampede partnered with her imported dog, Burndale Ben.
Her careful breeding program combines her own deep pedigrees of excellence with the very best of British lines. Broken Circle dogs have been at the top of the stock dog world for decades. Robin has taken a leadership role in her field.
Above all Robin emphasizes the welfare and training of her dogs. Striving to grow and learn she takes an open minded, collaborative approach to creating the perfect partnership between dog and handler.

Belinda was initially raised in the UK, where her family had a wild boar farm, and then in Los Angeles where her mother was a very successful animal trainer in the film industry.
Growing up working with a multitude of species allowed her to establish some principles of animal training that seem to be universal.
She aims for fun and efficiency in her training approach and focuses mostly on the early development of puppies and young dogs. Using modern techniques she establishes clear communication with her pups early on, making more advanced training much easier.
Belinda quickly establishes behaviors that will be critical for the future training once on stock. A solid “lie down”, an instant and reliable “recall”. Loose leash walking. Manners around stock. Manners around the family.
About Our Dogs
We specialize in well bred, trial ready Border Collies. We carefully select and offer just four exceptional dogs each year, loyal companions who are ready to join you on the vineyard, ranch, or as part of your family. Each dog is no younger than 15 months, ensuring a remarkable balance of training and life experience. Outstanding puppies are selected from Broken Circle’s exceptional breeding program. We select for structure, talent and a clear calm mind.
Our dogs are certified to have passed the AKC. Canine Good Citizen test. Assuring impeccable manners. They leave with their own new custom Dakota crate and personalized leash and collar. We require that they are collected in person and a half day lesson with Robin sets their new family up for success.
We really are looking for the “it” factor. Hard to describe but we know it when we see it!

Experience a wine country getaway to kick-start your dog’s herding journey. Our focus will be on bringing new handlers or lightly experienced teams into this incredible field in a supportive environment.

Breakfasts, lunches, and 2 dinners provided on site
Oh, and we will be training dogs too! We will focus on owners of herding breeds that want a judgement-free way to try the sport or are already competing. Also suitable for ranchers wanting to hone their working dog’s skills with no view to
trialing.
This is your your opportunity to learn from Robin Brown,multi time National champion and reserve world champion at 2024’s Calgary Stampede. Robin’s patient approach to teaching and infectious enthusiasm for raising and training top ranch dogs will help you and your dog to achieve your personal best.
Belinda Head will cover young dog and puppy development, focusing on building drive, and relationship in our youngsters. Belinda’s background is in agility and movie animal training.
This exclusive retreat will be limited to 12 working participants (with adult dogs old enough to work sheep, or pups and adolescents for the puppy development part of the course). There will be only 6 auditing spots (including all tuition and social events) to allow for the group to bond, ask questions, and really “jam“ dog training. Participants from other dog disciplines or pet owners who want to try things out for the first time are all welcome.
